Author: Julia Squarr, Journal Development Manager, PLOS Pathogens. Over the course of , we have been sharing our intention to expand beyond PLOS Pathogens’ scope, rooted in fundamental discoveries. As science continues to evolve, so too must we, adapting to the needs and shifts of our global research community.Plos one PLOS Pathogens invites research on fungal pathogenesis and its interactions with immunity for inclusion in a new collection. Plos pathogens impact factor Author summary The role of neutrophils in influenza is unclear. Although they are associated with increased severity of infection and can cause host tissue damage, their absence reduces survival in mouse studies of severe influenza infection. To study how neutrophils may affect the severity of infection, we have infected the C57BL/6J (B6) and A/J strains of mice with H1N1 influenza A virus.
Plos pathogens scope Author summary Typical epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) patients carry biallelic disabling mutations in TMC6, TMC8 or CIB1, and suffer high rates of skin cancer in UV-exposed sites associated with human betapapillomavirus (βHPV)+ plane warts. βHPV infections are common, but asymptomatic in healthy individuals. Typical EV is not associated with enhanced susceptibility to other infectious.
